This week's Short List is devoted to five of our favorite places to eat our vegetables. One of our favorite solo dining experiences is to sneak into Frances early in the night (and we're talking 5:30 p.m.), sit at the bar and order a mess of vegetables. This may be an off-label use of chef-owner Melissa Perello's culinary talents, but a meal made up of sides, such as her broccoli gratin with farro, and appetizers, like a grilled beet salad with smoked-egg sauce gribiche, is a fine meal indeed.
