Noise Level In Restaurants App

Whether you want a quiet conversation or need to drown out an awkward date

The biggest trend we've noticed this year in restaurants? It doesn't have anything to do with food but with how loud dining rooms have become. According to Vox, noise levels are the number one complaint of diners (and restaurant critics), reaching high enough to the point that it's dangerous to your hearing.

It's the reason Gregory Scott created SoundPrint, an app that's essentially a Yelp for noise levels: Users can sort and find restaurants by decibel ratings, while using their own phone's microphone to submit measurements wherever they're dining. Just consider it a solution for when you're looking for a spot to actually listen to your dining companion—or need a clubstaurant to drown out an awkward first date.

As of now, there are more than 25,000 noise-level submissions, mostly based in major cities such as New York, Chicago and San Francisco.
