Black Friday Restaurant Menu
Thanksgiving Day is all about food (OK, and gratitude), while the day after, known as Black Friday, has come to be known as an epic day for discount shopping. Now, one New York chef is hoping to honor that tradition with—wait for it—more food.
Chef David Burke, known for his whimsical foods and creative menus, will be offering black-colored dishes at his Upper East Side restaurant, Tavern62 by David Burke, in honor of Black Friday. It's conveniently located near Bloomingdale's, so shoppers can take a break from bargain hunting to dine on jet-black dishes like squid-ink macaroni and cheese or deviled eggs topped with black caviar.
While some dishes feature more obvious dark ingredients, like squid ink, others, like black pepper roast duck with blackberry and foie gras pie, whole-roasted black sea bass with black garlic and black salt, and black truffle-topped steak tartare, get more creative with their ebony-hued ingredients.
Other options on the à la carte menu, which is available Friday, November 24, to Sunday, November 26, include clotheslined calamari with black ink aioli, black bean soup with a smoked salmon quesadilla, and a burger served with black onion rings, which are fried in—you guessed it—a squid-ink tempura batter.
For dessert, the James Beard Award-winning chef will be offering a creamy black tea and chocolate crème brûlée, which is sure to please the dark-hearted chocoholics among us.
