In April, Carter Wilkinson asked Wendy's how many retweets it would take for them to satisfy his craving for a year's worth of their crispy, mechanically separated chicken. And, of course, in typical fashion, the fast-food chain played along with a somewhat-unattainable challenge.

Well, it turns out you can't keep starving teenagers from their pieces of fried chicken for long. With the help of the Twitterverse—including big names like Apple, Google and Ellen DeGeneres, to name a few—Wilkinson's original post has been retweeted more than 3.47 million times, to become the most retweeted tweet in history. Sorry, Ellen.
.@carterjwm is now the most retweeted tweet of all-time. That's good for the nuggets, and $100k to @DTFA. Consider it done. #nuggsforcarter pic.twitter.com/k6uhsJiP4E

And although their challenge wasn't exactly met, Wendy's, vying for the title of coolest fast-food chain ever, is granting Wilkinson's wish anyway (and is throwing in a cool $100,000 donation to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, to boot).
Hope you saved some chicken nuggets for us! https://t.co/m81neec9ck
