Chicago's Alinea Duo Plans New Project

Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas are getting us very excited

Less than a year after the opening of Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas's most casual dining spot yet, Roister, and the relaunch of their acclaimed fine dining restaurant, Alinea, the duo is already working on another project. The two shared a video and a photo on Instagram early this week in a construction zone with little extra information.

As Eater Chicago points out, the space is likely what used to be Moto, which the Alinea Group bought a year ago and has let sit empty—but for a pop-up last spring. No word yet on what will fill the space.

Meanwhile, the pair recently debuted the latest iteration of Next, their shape-shifting restaurant. This time around, it's dedicated to Ancient Rome. Later this year, Achatz will borrow recipes from famous chefs around the globe (18 members of the 50 Best Restaurants in the World list, to be more precise) for another version.

Stay tuned for more details on the mystery project as they become available.
