Unique Take Out Meals From Mon Ami Gabi And New England Seafood Co. | Tasting Table Chicago
Pizza. Chinese. Sushi. Repeat.
Tired of the takeout routine? We certainly were–at least until we found two amazing (if slightly over-the-top) meals that will make you want to stay inside on a Saturday night and brag to your friends: "I'm never going out to dinner again."
The French #101 from Mon Ami Gabi
The French #101 at Mon Ami Gabi ($68) is a complete bistro feast for two people–including steak frites, country pâté, escargot, trout amandine, a warm baguette and chocolate mousse–brought right to your door. If you decide to eat it in front of the TV rather than plating it on your best china, no one will need to know.
It's delicious and incredibly indulgent, though we'd suggest preheating your oven; tepid food was our only (minor) complaint. You can even order a bottle of Burgundy to go with your dinner.
Meanwhile, if you order the Maine Lobster Boil at New England Seafood Co. ($23) you'll get a whole lobster, drawn butter, potatoes, corn on the cob and clam chowder. It's a hearty feast for one, but be ready for a mess–you have to take the lobster apart yourself.
But that's part of the fun, right? And dipping hot lobster claws in butter in our pajamas is just about the best after-work treat we can imagine. Next time, we'd order extra chowder; it's some of the best we've had in Chicago.
Staying in has never been so delicious.
