B&S Gastropub ups Kendall's dining cred

Sorry we're not sorry, Kendall residents: B&S Gastroub (formerly known as Barley & Swine) is just too good to let you keep to yourselves.

The new gastropub, hidden in a canyon between Downtown Dadeland's residential towers, is worth a trip to the hinterlands–and with Midtown hipsters ensconced in Wynwood, there's plenty of room at the bar.

Order Green Bay Brewing's aptly named Hinterland Saison ($6), a rare find on tap in South Florida. The robust saison stands up to chef Jorge Ramos' char-crusted pig tails dappled with tart chimichurri sauce and a touch of sambal ($10). Or do like the locals do by tucking into plates of smoky pork belly lacquered with a pineapple-soda glaze ($12).

Ramos scatters crunchy house-made potato sticks over a fried egg and Niman Ranch ground beef in the sloppy, juicy Hangover Burger ($14). Pair the terrific burger, capped with a soft pretzel roll, with an assertive Imperial IPA like Sixpoint Resin ($7). Crispy sweet potato fries are some of the best we've tasted.

Most nights, the restaurant, with its minimalist wood-and-brick décor, is already abuzz with diners.

Let the South Beach denizens roll their eyes at the 'burbs. You'll have the last laugh with sugar-crusted, fried bread pudding ($6).
