Grand Central Market L.A. Has Exciting New Openings

Grand Central Market's new openings have something for everyone

Grand Central Market, we hardly recognize ya.

The 100-year-old landmark's massive, multiyear renovation has already sparked exciting developments: Three new businesses have opened, and a gourmet cheese store, an oyster bar and a Texas BBQ stand are expected by summer's end.

Here's why you should visit right now:

Not Your Average Joe: Intelligentsia alums Kyle Glanville and Charles Babinski have given their pop-up, G&B Coffee, a permanent home at the quick-serve wooden espresso bar near Hill Street. With a rotating cast of third-wave beans and filtered coffee brewed with Kalita Wave drippers, it's a caffeinated paradise.

Thai One On: Follow the intoxicating aromas to Sticky Rice, a new stall dedicated to organic Thai street food from chef Johnny Lee and the Soi 7 team. Check the chalkboard for specials like panang curry with coconut rice, plump Northern Thai sausages, and green papaya salad pounded to order in a pok-pok mortar.

Retro Sugar Rush: Valerie Gordon, cofounder of the hybrid bakery and lunch counter Valerie, is enamored with historic L.A. desserts. Find succulent slices of grapefruit cake inspired by the Brown Derby, Blum's coffee crunch cake and Scandia's apple cake. Grab a red vinyl stool and a fork; you'll stay for seconds.

Never have we taken the phrase "To market!" so seriously.
