Galactic Pizza In Minneapolis, MN Has Superhero Deliverymen

Superheroes who makes house calls--with pizza in tow

While pizzerias in many cities have experimented with crafty to-go methods, Minneapolis's Galactic Pizza has taken delivery to the extreme.

Galactic's deliverymen bear no resemblance to your stereotypical pepperoni-faced teenager. Rather, pizzas arrive at your door in the hands of spandex-clad planet savers who transport their pies via electric-powered vehicles.

Galactic has a long-standing reputation among hipsters, vegans, environmentalists and potheads for its alternative touches: There's hemp in the pesto sauce, a discount for those who order at 4:20 p.m. and a CSA pie topped with farm-share produce.

But the Galactic superheroes are by far the most popular of the restaurant's charms. One deliveryman, Luke Pie-Rocker, garnered national attention for chasing down a real-life purse-snatcher while he was on the job.

For Captain Awesome (pictured), a day at the office is far from dull: He's had requests to pose for photos on a bearskin rug, been intercepted by a group of regulars dressed as supervillains and received tips in the form of a six-pack of PBR, a pile of fireworks–even an especially aggressive embrace from a middle-aged woman.

The easygoing superhero laughed it off: For these guys, it's all in a day's work.
