Greek Food In Astoria, Queens: Ovelia, Elias Corner, Lefkos Pirgos Cafe

Hit three of Astoria's best Greek spots in one easy itinerary

Drinks: Ovelia Hop on one of the outside bar stools at this white-washed restaurant (pictured) for a classic ouzo over ice, or try a Metaxa mojito, made with Greek brandy. You'll want something deliciously fatty with that, like a plate of the grilled house-made pork sausages, spiked with orange zest. Stop at an ATM before strolling over to cash-only spots for dinner and dessert. 34-01 30th Ave., Astoria; 718-721-7217

Dinner: Elias Corner Study the fresh fish in the refrigerator case at the entrance of this Greek taverna, then ask for a table on the terrace in the back. Your server will offer suggestions course-by-course (there's no menu). Share the Greek salad for one and tender, charred octopus splashed with vinegar and olive oil. Move on to grilled whole fish (you do remember whether you wanted the red snapper, striped bass, sea bass or porgie, right?). 24-02 31st St., Astoria; 718-932-1510

Dessert: Lefkos Pirgos Café The chocolate mice-shaped cakes at this bright corner café and bakery across the street from Elias Corner are tempting, but the traditional Greek pastries, like baklava, walnut cake and custard galatombouriko, are a better choice. Sip the foam off a Greek coffee or icy frappé as good as any in Athens (you'll need to specify sweet or sweeter) under a sky-blue ceiling painted with fluffy clouds. Or stay up all night outside with the backgammon-playing locals. 22-85 31st St., Astoria; 718-932-4423
