7-Eleven Jump-Starts Pumpkin Spice Latte Season Earlier Than Expected

The summer heat may still be in full force, but that hasn't stopped one coffee-selling chain from getting an early start on fall flavors. 7-Eleven announced on August 1 that, effective immediately, it would begin selling its fall coffee lineup of Pumpkin Spice flavors at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes locations throughout the United States.

Of course, most people think of the famed Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks when talk of coffee turns autumnal. These days a slew of other coffee and fast food brands have joined in on the seasonal shenanigans including Dunkin', McDonald's, and many more, resulting in a wide range of pumpkin spice flavored beverages and snacks. Now 7-Eleven and its associated brands have launched a shot across the bow of those retailers. In addition to Pumpkin Spice Latte, they are now offering regular Pumpkin Coffee, as well as Pumpkin Syrup which can be added to any drink alongside the chain's in-store array of syrups, creamers, and mix-ins.

Getting a jump on fall flavor

In the company's press release, 7-Eleven, Inc. acknowledged that the roll out is early, but justified the move by adding that its patrons are eager to indulge. "We know our customers wait all year long for their favorite fall flavors," senior vice president of merchandising Dennis Phelps said. "So, we decided to break out the pumpkin a little bit early this year. It may not quite feel like fall outside yet, but it sure can taste like fall as we enjoy the first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season."

7-Eleven seems to have beaten Starbucks to the Pumpkin Spice punch by nearly a month, as the Seattle-based chain typically doesn't debut its signature fall menu until late August (in 2022, it dropped on August 29th). In late July, an amplified fall menu was leaked online — boasting the addition of a Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte alongside returning pumpkin-themed favorites. And once again, the seasonal menu is set to launch on the 29th.

In addition to the pumpkin coffee creations, 7-Eleven, Stripes, and Speedway will also be carrying a glazed Apple Cider Donut for the fall season, as well as an Apple Snack Pie and Apple Danish starting now. Later in the month, they are also expected to bring back their signature pumpkin muffin. All fall treats will be available at participating stores through October 31st.
