Baskin-Robbins Debuts New Chicken & Waffles-Inspired Ice Cream

Baskin-Robbins is bringing a popular brunch favorite into its ice cream shops across the country. The company has found a way to transform the sweet and salty flavors of chicken and waffles into a frozen treat. This new addition to the Baskin-Robbins line-up is only available for a limited time — starting Wednesday, March 1 — and follows in the footsteps of other novelty flavors previously produced by the brand. Back in February, it offered customers a Valentine's Day delight with the return of Love Potion #31, which had originally been developed in 1995.

With its Chick'n & Waffles ice cream, Baskin-Robbins adds a new flavor to its collection that runs over 1,300. It also marks one of the early efforts to move this well-known dish — chicken and waffles has grown 27% on menus over the past four years, it said, citing a Datassential Menu Trends study — from entrée to dessert. Last fall, entrepreneur Earl "E40" Stevens put out his own take on chicken and waffles in his Goon with the Spoon ice cream line. His version features waffle bits, maple syrup, and pieces of real chicken skin. But Baskin-Robbins has gone about it in a different fashion.

New take on a brunch classic

Baskin-Robbins has worked a bit of ice cream magic with its new Chick'n & Waffles flavor. It has found a way to get the taste of fried chicken into its frozen dessert without using any actual chicken. The ice cream base tastes like a buttermilk waffle and it contains pieces of waffle and chicken-flavored bits to provide some crunch. It also features a special swirl of bourbon maple syrup flavor. This impressive combination of tastes and textures is sure to please fans of the classic chicken and waffles.

To launch this new flavor, Baskin-Robbins is offering free unlimited scoops of Chick'n & Waffles ice cream at one of its New York City stores on Tuesday, March 7 from 10 am to 1 pm. Visitors to the store at 1225 1st Avenue will get to taste this new invention for themselves. If you can't get to New York, don't worry. The flavor will be available nationwide.

Not one to rest on its laurels, Baskin-Robbins will launch another new flavor in time for Easter. The flavor, called Get Egg-cited Cake, is set to debut on March 26. This new creation draws inspiration from the bright colors and decorative patterns of Easter eggs.
