Insomnia Is Celebrating National Cookie Day With Freebie Deal

What's better than a warm, melt-in-your mouth cookie? How about a free one? To recognize National Cookie Day on December 4, Insomnia Cookies wants to help customers celebrate by giving away free cookies and offering special deals, according to a press release.

National Cookie Day was first declared by Matt Nader of the Blue Chip Cookie Company in 1987 just for fun, according to Days of the Year. When it comes to eating cookies, it's certainly not a one-day-per-year treat for most Americans. According to a survey of 1,000 people by National Today, 33% of both men and women said they eat a cookie twice per week. 11% of women said they eat a cookie a day while 15% of men said they eat one cookie every day.

Insomnia Cookies first celebrated National Cookie Day in 2015, 12 years after the idea for the company first came about when several college friends had a craving for a late-night snack. In 2022, there are more than 225 Insomnia locations in the United States, all of which will be celebrating National Cookie Day.

Celebrate in store and online

Famous for its warm cookies, Insomnia Cookies wants to give cookie lovers a reason to celebrate National Cookie Day on Sunday, December 4 — and the days leading up to it.

From Friday through Sunday, people visiting an Insomnia Cookies store will get a free cookie with any purchase, per a press release. A free cookie will also be given away with orders placed online or using the Insomnia Cookies app. If they order online, customers will be able to get free shipping with the code SHIPCOOKIES. Members of Insomnia Cookies' CookieMagic will get something extra sweet: a free six-pack of cookies, no purchase is needed.

In addition to the free cookie offer, Insomnia started the Social Media Giveaways & Ultimate Cookie Lover Contest on Wednesday, November 30, which will run until Sunday, December 4. To enter the contest, people need to share a video on Instagram or TikTok showing why they are the "Ultimate Cookie Lover." To learn how to enter, go to Insomnia's Instagram or TikTok. There will be additional giveaways on Instagram, where people can enter to win prizes like a bean bag chair covered in cookies. Then on the big day itself, December 4, all Insomnia Cookie Bakeries will be open an additional hour.
