Is Starbucks Open On Thanksgiving Day 2022?

Images of Thanksgiving used to be of families and friends gathered around a communal table after having spent days preparing for a holiday feast, not going to their favorite retail stores or coffee shops. Convivial gatherings were Thanksgiving's raison d'etre, but then Black Friday entered the picture. Brittanica explains that "Black Friday" became popularly associated with a big shopping day in the late 1980s, marking the date on which retail stores began to turn a profit for the year, or be "in the black." Then in 2013 Target said it would open its doors on Thanksgiving Day to give shoppers early access to Black Friday, and soon after other retailers followed suit (via Market Watch).

Enter 2020's pandemic. For years, retailers were open on Turkey Day until they couldn't be, according to Black Friday. Many big stores closed on Thanksgiving Day 2020, due to the pandemic, and the public largely approved. In 2021, when fears about Covid-19 had eased a bit, many retailers chose to close for a second year. Target even took the step of announcing that they would never again open on Thanksgiving. However, some retailers have still chosen to be open on Turkey Day, but it may require a little research to find out where you can get your shop on for Thanksgiving or if you can get your favorite latte from Starbucks

Will Starbucks be serving up Pumpkin Spice Lattes on Turkey Day?

Tasting Table reached out to Starbucks to find out if the beloved coffee shop plans to open for Thanksgiving Day 2022. Officially, Starbucks locations are open every day, but individual stores' hours do vary and may be adjusted to suit business and customer needs. Starbucks' statement said, "We recommend customers look for specific store hours using the Starbucks app or by visiting our website store locator: Starbucks.com/store-locator. The Starbucks app continues to be the best way for customers to find a store, check store hours, order ahead and pay."

Of course, you may wish to stay home and savor your time with friends and family by making a sinfully delicious pumpkin spice latte milk punch. But if you want an Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato to fuel your holiday shopping, or if you want to sip a Pumpkin Spice Latte on the way to your grandparents' house, just check with your local Starbucks or use the app to see when they plan to be open for business on Thanksgiving Day this year.
