The Brand Coffee Drinkers Tell Tasting Table Is The Best Brewed At Home - Exclusive Survey

It's probably an understatement to say that coffee can get a bit geeky. Coffee has its own vocabulary, for goodness' sake. Whether you favor a single-origin coffee from Chiapas or Sumatra or don't care about the difference between robusta and arabica beans, most people in the US drink coffee in some form. According to the National Coffee Association (NCA), 66% of Americans drink coffee every day. The 2022 polling also revealed several interesting trends, like an increase in preference for specialty coffee and the drip brewing method for coffee prepared at home.

When it comes to coffee made at home, Tasting Table wanted to know what's in your cup. We asked 588 readers to share their go-to coffee brand from the following choices: Peet's Coffee, Dunkin', Starbucks, Folgers, Café Bustelo, and Caribou Coffee. Given that NCA polling showed that more of us drink coffee than any other single kind of drink, including tap water, your preferred brands add up to more than a hill of coffee beans!

What brand makes your favorite cup of joe?

It turns out that most people like the same brands at home and on the go — 33% of voters say they prefer Starbucks when they're making coffee at home. The iconic coffee giant, founded in 1971 in Seattle, offers a wide variety of coffee for home brewers, from seasonal flavors like peppermint mocha and gingerbread to a range of roasts like the classic Pike Place blend or deep, dark espresso. In second place is another retail giant that you love to take home. Dunkin' brought in about 24% of the votes with their flavored blends, K-Cup Pods, and even special blends designed for cold brewing.

In third place is the at-home standby Folgers, founded in 1850 as The Pioneer Steam Coffee and Spice Mills and renamed after the American Civil War. Roughly 22% of you put Folgers in your cup. About 10% of readers pick Peet's Coffee, another West Coast brand started in Berkeley, California, in 1966 and famous for its dark, freshly roasted coffee. Café Bustelo, founded in Harlem in 1928 to celebrate the importance of espresso-style coffee in Latin cultures, garnered 7% of the votes, and Minneapolis-born Caribou Coffee came in sixth place with 3% of your votes. Whatever your coffee of choice, make sure you brew it up right!
