Joe Carroll of St. Anselm and Fette Sau in Brooklyn sandwiches stracchino cheese and Nutella together for one gooey, sweet mess that's equally delicious for dessert or breakfast.

Nutella-Stracchino Grilled Sandwich

Recipe adapted from Joe Carroll, Fette Sau and St. Anselm, Brooklyn, NY

Yield: 4 sandwiches

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes


8 tablespoons Nutella

8 thick slices Italian-style bread

Eight ½-inch-thick slices stracchino cheese

¼ cup melted butter


1. Spread 2 tablespoons of Nutella each evenly over 4 slices of bread, then top with 2 slices of stracchino. Make 4 sandwiches with the remaining slices of bread.

2. Prepare a charcoal or gas grill for medium-hot cooking or place a grill pan over medium-high heat.

3. Brush both sides of each sandwich with melted butter.

4. Grill the sandwiches until light golden brown on both sides, 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
