Extra-Bloody Blood & Sand
Recipe adapted from Michael Cecconi, Two Sisters Bar & Books, San Francisco
Yield: 1 cocktail

¾ ounce lightly peated Scotch, such as 12-year-old Bunnahabhain
1 ounce Matthiasson Vermouth
¾ ounce cherry heering
¾ ounce freshly squeezed blood orange juice
4-inch strip of blood orange zest
Fill a shaker with Scotch, vermouth, cherry heering and orange juice. Add ice, shake, strain into a rocks glass and add fresh ice.
Squeeze the orange peel over surface of the drink to express its oils, then drop the peel into the drink and serve.
