Brand-New Goldfish Crackers Are Geared Toward Grown-Up Tastes

Some snacks are just oh-so nostalgic of early childhood: juice boxes, ants on a log, apple slices, and the always classic Goldfish crackers are a few that come to mind. While Pepperidge Farm acknowledges that Goldfish have become a staple for many adults in recent years (who now eat 40% of all Goldfish crackers, according to Food & Wine), the brand just introduced a new product that is not exactly the snack of yesteryear you might be expecting.

According to Food Business News, snack fans might be reeling in some bigger fish the next time they dip their hands into a bag of Goldfish. Pepperidge Farm is introducing new Goldfish Mega Bites that are "designed specifically to fit adult palates and larger hands." To be more exact, the new fish-shaped cheese crackers will be 50% bigger and will pack a more intense flavor than the lightly toasted cheddar cheese you have come to expect from the orange snack. And along with these two differences, you'll also see another more "grown-up" flavor on supermarket shelves.

This is where you'll find the new Goldfish

The new Goldfish Mega Bites will be available in two new flavors: sharp cheddar and cheddar jalapeño (via Food Business News). Both will pack more punch than what you might serve the kids in your life. "This is the first time Goldfish has created a snacking experience specifically with 'Grown Up' tastes in mind," explained Janda Lukin, chief marketing officer at Pepperidge Farm parent company Campbell Snacks. "We're at the start of a new chapter for the brand and are expanding our offerings and appeal to all age groups — in the college dorm, snacking at your desk, wherever that is these days — while remaining a snack for all families. We're excited to keep creating bold and playful snacks and experiences," Lukin added.

But the best news of all is that you won't have to wait to see these at your local grocery store or other locations. The new Goldfish Mega Bites are already appearing on shelves all across the United States where you would normally buy Goldfish. Food & Wine reports you'll find the new "adult" options in the same classic Goldfish bags, with a suggested retail price of just $2.69.

As these grown-up Goldfish are already available, you can decide for yourself if the new bigger, bolder flavors can replace the classic snack. But no need to rush; unlike the Frank's RedHot collab, Goldfish Mega Bites are part of the permanent Pepperidge Farm lineup.
