How To Make A Vinaigrette

No whisk required

Life is too short to use the same salad dressing over and over. And while it might be easier to grab a bottle at the supermarket, making it at home is just as simple and more cost effective.

The traditional technique for making vinaigrette calls for a bowl, whisk and something to store it in, but that just leaves you with more things to clean. So we've got a better way.

The easiest and quickest way to make a vinaigrette is in a mason jar.

All you have to do is add the ingredients to a jar, screw on the lid and give it a good shake. A basic vinaigrette recipes calls for three parts oil to one part vinegar or other acid like lemon juice. Next come your seasonings, such as salt, pepper, shallots, garlic, dried or fresh herbs, or mustard for a tangy finish.

Make sure to taste your dressing and adjust the seasoning before drizzling onto a salad or pouring over vegetables.

The best part is if you don't use it all at once, you can pop the lid back on and throw it in the fridge for next time.
