How To Make A Vinaigrette

Life is too short to use the same salad dressing over and over. And while it might be easier to grab a bottle at the supermarket, making it at home is just as simple and more cost effective.

The traditional technique for making vinaigrette calls for a bowl, whisk and something to store it in, but that just leaves you with more things to clean. So we've got a better way.

The easiest and quickest way to make a vinaigrette is in a mason jar.

All you have to do is add the ingredients to a jar, screw on the lid and give it a good shake. A basic vinaigrette recipes calls for three parts oil to one part vinegar or other acid like lemon juice. Next come your seasonings, such as salt, pepper, shallots, garlic, dried or fresh herbs, or mustard for a tangy finish.
