Beer Could Be Good For The Heart

A beer a day could keep the doctor away

The next time you reach for a cold one, just remember you could be helping your heart.

A study from the researchers at Pennsylvania State University says drinking moderate amounts of alcohol—one serving a day for women and two for men—could help you maintain good cholesterol. And although there have been many reports about the health benefits of red wine, beer comes out on top in this study.

The findings, presented at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2016, show a correlation between moderate drinking and slow declines in high-density lipoprotein (HDL), also known as good cholesterol. Researchers explain they still need to gather more evidence to make any conclusions about the effects of wine on heart health.

For now, crack one open and keep drinking responsibly.
