Women Drink Just As Much As Men

New study shows women are closing the gender drinking gap

For decades, men have been known to drink more than women, but a new study published by the BJM Open is proving that statistic to be ancient history. Research shows that men born between 1891 and 1910 are 2.2 times more likely to drink than women. But men and women born between 1991 and 2000 are keeping pace with a 1:1 ratio.

The study drew from 68 international studies published between 1980 and 2014, which surveyed four million people total. Though it didn't address why women now drink as much as men, the researchers speculate it could be due to new career and education achievements for women.

Whatever the reason, we're all in favor of gender equality, so to all the ladies out there, drink well and responsibly.
