Rise Up Rye 'Hamilton'-Inspired Craft Beer Just Hit The Market

A 'Hamilton'-inspired craft beer hits the market this weekend

Broadway sensation Hamilton just earned 16 Tony nominations yesterday—the most any Broadway show has earned ever. If you weren't one of the lucky ones who saw the play before it became impossible to get tickets, and if you're still entering the lottery every day to no avail, we've got a somewhat-acceptable solution for you: Grab a drink.

In all seriousness, a Hamilton-inspired beer hit the market this past weekend, and if you close your eyes while taking a sip and playing the soundtrack in the background, you'll feel like you're there. Almost.

Fittingly, the beer comes from Bronx-based Gun Hill Brewing Co., named for an historic Revolutionary War battle that took place at Gun Hill. The brewery named the beer Rise Up Rye, and a portion of the sales will go to Graham Windham, the charity for children that Alexander Hamilton's wife set up in 1806. So not only will drinking Rise Up Rye transport you to a state that somewhat resembles watching the show in person, but the good karma you'll generate from purchasing it just might help you in the Hamilton lottery.

Entertainment-inspired craft beers are nothing new. A flurry of Star Wars-related beers hit the market around the release of The Force Awakens, and Ommegang releases a new Game of Thrones-inspired beer each season. Considering the sheer success of Hamilton, however, we imagine this beer is going to cause quite the stir.

Rise Up Rye is currently available at the brewery, as well as 40 bars around New York, whose locations can be found on Gun Hill Brewing Co.'s website. If the stars align, it'll start selling the beer at the theater where Hamilton is playing, just in time for your lottery win.
