Video: How To Make Rainbow Cereal Bar Treats

Use your favorite sweet cereals to make these colorful bars

When you're about to make crispy cereal treats, you should always ask yourself, Why stop at Rice Krispies®?

The cereal aisle is full of inspiring choices. For these bars, we decided to go with not just one, but three cereals. Of course, Rice Krispies® is the tried-and-true favorite, so we included the classic. Then we went with Golden Grahams®, because few things go better together than grahams and marshmallow, and Fruity Pebbles™. Not only do they give these treats a fun color scheme that we love (have you seen our funfetti napoleon?), they also add a certain somethin'-somethin' flavorwise to the treats that will have everyone talking.

Start by slowly melting a stick and a half of butter in the largest pot you own. And don't just melt the butter, brown it. Stirring it occasionally, keep the butter on the heat until the milk solids have turned a toasty brown and smell nutty. This can happen fast, so keep a keen eye on your pot, so your butter doesn't burn. While the butter is melting, prepare a half sheet pan by greasing it with butter and setting it aside. Once the butter has browned, add ¾ teaspoon of kosher salt and then 10 cups of mini marshmallows. Stir the marshmallows and butter together over the heat until the marshmallows have melted into a gooey fluff. Turn off the heat and add the cereals to the pot. Stir well to completely coat the cereals in the marshmallow mixture. Pour the cereal-marshmallow mixture onto the prepared sheet pan and spread it out evenly. Let the goo cool completely before cutting into squares.
