How To Make 3 Easy Chicken Wing Sauces

Wings. Whether you're at your local sports bars or you're making some at home, they're as synonymous with game day as beer or flat-screen TVs. If you have taken on the challenge of frying or baking them from scratch, here are three finger-lickin' good sauces to whip up with your pile of wings.

We would be remiss if we didn't make the tried-and-true classic that is Buffalo sauce. For the traditional recipe, go with a 2-to-1 ratio of hot sauce to butter. We went with ½ a stick of butter in a small pan over medium heat. Melt the butter completely and then add ½ a cup of Frank's RedHot Original to the butter and whisk well to combine.

For a quick zesty barbecue sauce, add 1 tablespoon of grapeseed oil to a small nonstick pan over medium heat. Next, toast 1 teaspoon of cayenne, ½ teaspoon of ground cumin, ¼ teaspoon of crushed coriander seeds and ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper in the oil until fragrant. Add 2 minced garlic cloves, ½ of a finely chopped shallot and a 1-inch piece of ginger that's been peeled and grated. Coat with the spices and cook until softened. Combine with ¼ cup of tomato paste and cook until slightly caramelized. Add ½ cup of water, 2 teaspoons of kosher salt, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of mustard and stir to combine. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes until thickened.

Lastly, for an easy ginger sesame glaze, in a small bowl, combine 1 finely minced garlic clove, ½ teaspoon of grated ginger, 2 tablespoons of honey, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of hoisin, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil and 1 tablespoon of Sriracha, and whisk together well.

Each of these recipes makes enough to coat about 20 wings, so grab a pile of napkins and prepare to get lost in the sauce.
