Learn To Brew Evil Twin Brewing's Bikini Beer With Brooklyn Brew Shop's Kit

Bring back summer with Brooklyn Brew Shop's Bikini Beer kit

Maybe it's our fading tan or the shortage of beachy Fridays, but we're missing summer and the leisurely day-drinking that goes along with it.

We can't fix those first two, but we can ensure that your drinking habits stay intact, thanks to Brooklyn Brew Shop's first collaboration with Brooklyn-based Evil Twin Brewing–the make-your-own Bikini Beer kit. Now, one of our favorite summer IPAs, clocking in at just 2.7 percent ABV and super light-bodied and refreshing as a result, is available year-round in the comfort of your own kitchen.

"It's fun for people to have a professional recipe for a specific beer," brewer Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø explains. "Other brew kits can be generic, but now people who buy this can compare their own beer to the original. It's a fun challenge to take on at home."

Jarnit-Bjergsø has scaled down the normal batch of 3,000 gallons of Bikini Beer for this one-gallon kit. "If you can make oatmeal, you can make beer," the instructions read. The little kit includes all the gear you need, from a glass jug to sanitizer pebbles to clean it before brewing, as well as the grains and three hops, including Jarnit-Bjergsø's favorite, the funky, piney Simcoe, to make the wort and mash.

Then, after conjuring your own oatmeal-y base, adding water and waiting a cool two weeks for it to ferment into that bubbly, ultralight brew, you'll get your own batch of Bikini Beer. Grab your towel; summer's on.
