TT Drinks Editor Jim Meehan created this twist on the margarita (Spanish for "daisy") using Damiana liqueur-made from a native Mexican herb with purported aphrodisiac qualities. As if that's not enough, Regan's Orange Bitters is heavily spiced with cardamom-yet another aphrodisiac. Sal de gusano (a blend of chile, salt and dried ground worm) adds heat and depth.

Oh, and did we mention that Corazón, the brand of tequila he recommends, means "heart" in Spanish? We're smitten.

Ingredients
  • Ice
  • 2 ounces Corazón Blanco Tequila
  • ¾ ounce Damiana liqueur
  • ¾ ounce fresh lime juice
  • 3 dashes Regan's Orange Bitters
  • Sliced cucumber, for garnish
  • Pinch sal de gusano, for garnish
Directions
  1. In a shaker filled with ice, combine all of the ingredients. Shake well and then strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a cucumber slice and a pinch of sal de gusano.
