C'est Parfait

Leave the pie, take the apple compote

You can never have too much pie.

Well, once you're deep into the holiday season, it's possible that you can. With that in mind, our Test Kitchen took the traditional flavors of apple pie to make a yogurt parfait with cinnamon-apple compote (see the recipe).

Tart granny smith apples are cooked down with cinnamon and honey to create a rich compote; when layered with Greek yogurt, crunchy almond butter, chia seeds and slivered almonds, the result is a creamy and cool–but still warming dessert–or snack, or breakfast that has all the flavor of a slice of pie without the heft.

Yeah, yeah, we get it, it's not pie. But you may find us sneaking one on Christmas morning.
