Videri Chocolate's Dark Milk Bars
A new chocolate bar to please everyone
There are plenty of food debates about which we take a firm stand.
But in the case of chocolate, we're like Switzerland. We love it all, and have never understood the rancor between milk and dark camps.
Luckily, there's Videri Chocolate Factory, a young bean-to-bar operation in Raleigh, North Carolina, that has just launched an online store.
In addition to an outrageously rich and classic dark chocolate bar and a zippy, warming pink peppercorn bar, the line includes an option that unites both sides of the candy aisle: the Dark Milk ($8 for two bars).
The base is the same as the Videri dark bar, robust and almost savory. But it gets a creamy lift from the addition of whole milk, providing a confectionary profile that is as appropriate on a fancy cheese plate as it is on a s'more.
The bar, like the rest of the company, is all about making chocolate both approachable and transparent, using sustainably harvested cacao. In addition to the bars, the Videri team has just applied its magic touch to confections like caramels, truffles and marshmallows.
Here's to chocolate-covered bipartisanship.
