Michael's Genuine Food & Drink's Pastry Chef Hedy Goldsmith

Hedy Goldsmith's desserts are as gorgeous as their new environs

It's no small challenge to keep up with the beauty pageant that is South Beach.

But Hedy Goldsmith, the pastry chef at Michael's Genuine Food & Drink, has done just that by whipping up some of the best and most beautiful desserts in Miami.

A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America's first pastry program, Goldsmith thinks of her creations as edible works of art, an approach made obvious on the plate; dishes such as key lime ice cream sandwiches and tangerine pots de crème look as good as they taste.

The opening of Michael's Genuine in the Cayman Islands last week proves that Goldsmith's desserts don't need a Miami backdrop to succeed. Classics such as the decadent banana-toffee panini have made the trip and taste just as delicious.
