Bklyn Larder Food Market In Brooklyn, New York City And Franny Stephens And Andrew Feinberg And Sergio Hernandez

Franny's begets a market

For months, Park Slope has been tapping its toes in anticipation of Bklyn Larder, a food market from the team behind beloved Franny's down the street.

And good things come to those who wait: The just-opened space is a carefully curated collection of everything you've always wished you could pick up on your walk home.

At the shop's heart–it's a partnership between Francine "Franny" Stephens, her chef-husband, Andrew Feinberg, and cheesemonger Sergio Hernandez–is a top-notch cheese and charcuterie program.

But there's more here, starting with a roster of sandwiches made with bread from local bakeries. Larder also offers a selective mix of specialty foods, including three kinds of local milk, house-ground pistachio-nut butters, rarely seen artisanal chocolates and olive oil bottled to order from a stainless tank called a fusta.

Best of all is the massive kitchen in the back, which will turn out 10 flavors of gelato and a slew of Franny's-quality prepared foods, including entire takeout suppers, like roasted leg of lamb with salsa verde and chickpea salad. "Andrew's been making versions of these for me for years," says Stephens. Now we finally get to taste them, too.
