Starbucks Introduces New Cinnamon-Roll Inspired Nitro Cold Brew

As the weather starts to warm up for spring, Starbucks is introducing a new sweet way to cool off while enjoying your morning coffee. Beginning March 7, 2023, a unique flavor of Starbucks' iconic Nitro Cold Brew will make its way onto the permanent menu of U.S. stores.

The coffee giant announced on its website and social media pages that the newest entry in the Nitro Cold Brew Line is Cinnamon Caramel Cream Nitro Cold Brew, inspired by the flavors of a classic breakfast treat, the cinnamon roll. According to the Starbucks menu, the drink includes Nitro Cold Brew Coffee swirled with two pumps of cinnamon caramel syrup and topped with cinnamon-flavored sweet cream cold foam and "a dusting" of cinnamon dulce topping. The brand claims that this captures the flavor of "ooey gooey cinnamon roll bliss in every sip" on Twitter.

"The new Cinnamon Caramel Cream Nitro Cold Brew is a lovely balance of decadent baking flavors with a delicate and creamy cold foam topping that seamlessly blends into the coffee with each sip," Starbucks beverage developer Erin Marinan said in the announcement. "This velvety smooth Nitro Cold Brew provides customers with a fresh take on the fan-favorite caramel flavor."

The Cinnamon Caramel Cream Nitro Cold Brew is a creamy and flavorful taste of caffeine

The Cinnamon Caramel Cream Nitro Cold Brew, like Starbucks' other flavors of Nitro Cold Brew, is made by taking normal cold brew coffee and infusing it with nitrogen gas with a tap system similar to how beer is served. This makes the coffee feel creamier and smoother than iced coffee, which can be watered down by the extra ice cubes. But still, it's closer to the texture of regular coffee than the blended cold Frappuccinos, which come with more ice and an extra dose of dairy products to achieve their creaminess.

According to Starbucks, the new Cinnamon Caramel Cream Nitro Cold Brew is higher in calories than the original Nitro Cold Brew due to the cinnamon caramel syrup and the sweet cold cream. Plus, it contains a lot more caffeine than most of the chain's coffee drinks, with 265 milligrams of caffeine in a grande. That's comparable to a dark roast black coffee and about 40% more caffeine than what you'd get in the same-sized iced coffee.

If you're in the market to combine the flavors of your favorite breakfast pastry with your morning jolt of energy, the Cinnamon Caramel Cream Nitro Cold Brew is now available at all Starbucks locations where Nitro Cold Brew is sold.
