That's why we turned to one of Netflix's most familiar cooking personalities for some fall food advice: Antoni Porowski, perhaps most recognized for the "Queer Eye" reboot, who is known for his kitchen tips and recipes on the show.
The Canadian cook will also be the face of Netflix's new "Easy-Bake Battle: The Home Cooking Competition," which features clever home cooks and an Easy-Bake Oven. While that explanation speaks for itself, Porowski is speaking on behalf of the judges as the series host. Porowski told Tasting Table that he's not much of a baker, but he does add some sweet ingredients to his savory dishes every once in a while. He shared a tip that makes for an amazing addition to an easy comfort food staple — meatballs.
Porowski adds honey to his turkey meatballs
If you're a fan of meatballs, then you are going to love Antoni Porowski's secret ingredient. The "Queer Eye" food and wine expert explained that honey has a hold on his savory meals. He uses the sweet substance in his vinaigrettes and even some sauces, and he enjoys adding honey to his turkey meatballs with chili flakes "for sweetness." Porowski clarified that when it comes to meatballs, he uses "my own hot honey mix, for the last three minutes — if I'm roasting meatballs, not if I'm putting them in a pan, because then they'll burn too quickly."
The self-taught cook recommends using "a tiny little drizzle from a very small spout of hot honey" for extra flavor and then sprinkling a dash of flake salt. According to Porowski, this will get you the perfect amount of sweet and savory when you take a bite out of the meatball.
In addition to helping out beginner cooks, the Fab Five member puts his skills to use for the "Queer Eye" cast, so it's likely only a matter of time before his turkey meatballs appear on a Netflix show and we can watch his flavorful hack in action.
