Taco Bell Is Letting Fans Choose Which Sorely Missed Menu Item Will Return

It's hard coming to terms when your go-to fast food restaurant discontinues your favorite menu item, but it happens often. McDonald's had McSalad Shakers and the Arch Deluxe, Wendy's had a chicken caesar pita and a coffee toffee twisted Frosty, and Burger King had ribs and mini cinnamon rolls (via Insider). All of these menu items were enjoyed for a short time before being discontinued, but some fans aren't afraid to voice their opinions on these matters. Thankfully, some chains, such as Taco Bell, take into account what consumers have to say about discontinued items.

Taco Bell continues to be innovative and excites its fans with new items or the return of some discontinued items. As of late, Taco Bell is testing a new plant-based meat and brought back its potatoes after an attempt at simplifying its menu wasn't welcomed by fans. The chain even brought back the beloved Mexican pizza permanently on September 15, 2022 (per Taco Bell) after 171,692 fans signed a petition. Now the chain needs the help of its fans once again to decide on the next menu item that returns.

Taco Bell Rewards members can vote between the Double Decker Taco and the Enchirito

In a press release, Taco Bell announced that from September 27 to October 6, 2022, Taco Bell Rewards members can vote for which beloved menu item will return. Fans have a choice between the Double Decker Taco or Enchirito. Introduced in 1995, the Double Decker Taco is a crunchy taco with seasoned beef, lettuce, and shredded cheddar cheese with a bean-filled soft flour tortilla wrapped around it. The Double Decker Taco was a permanent menu item from 2006 to 2019. The Enchirito was on the menu from 1970 to 2013 and is a soft flour tortilla stuffed with beef, diced onions, and beans, then rolled up and covered with red sauce and melted shredded cheddar cheese.

Fans can vote once daily and must be logged into their Taco Bell Rewards account to vote. The winner will be revealed on October 7, 2022, and select Taco Bell locations will offer the winning item at a later date for a limited time and while supplies last. Regarding the announcement, Taco Bell's Chief Brand Officer Sean Tresvant said, "Nobody gets Taco Bell more than our community so we're thrilled to empower them with this in-app voting experience that allows them to have a direct impact on our menu."
