Right Tasty Makes Vinaigrette Just Right

Downright delicious bottled vinaigrettes

Bottled salad dressings are both a blessing and a curse. They're a convenient supermarket staple, but often they're flavorless, sugar-laden and uninspired.

So we cheered when we tasted the straightforward, but wildly flavorful, small-batch Right Tasty vinaigrettes, made by food-minded pals Duncan Adams and Josh Mizrahi.

Tapping into the nation's allium frenzy, the breakout hit was their ramp vinaigrette, which the pair started selling at local New York City markets last spring. Inspired by drizzling salad with the remnants from a jar of pickled ramps, they vowed to harness the taste in a larger quantity (you'll have to wait until next spring's ramp crop to taste the vinaigrette for yourself).

But the pair's smoked heirloom tomato and Meyer lemon versions ($15 for 6 ounces) are available now. All the vinaigrettes use a short list of high-quality ingredients such as extra-virgin olive oil, white balsamic and spices.

We love them as a finish for grilled fish or a simple roast chicken. The Meyer lemon vinaigrette is an acidic foil to earthy roasted vegetables, and the tomato vinaigrette adds sweetness to starches like rice or farro.

Or pour it on a basic bowl of greens: you've never had a salad this good before.
