Your Boxed Pancake Mix Will Taste Better With One Simple Step
By JOHN J LEE
The boxed pancake mix was first introduced in 1889, and while pancakes from a box may never compete with ones made from scratch, there are ways of leveling up boxed pancakes. The most obvious example is adding flavorings such as vanilla, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, allspice, chai spice, or nutmeg.
Lifestyle of a Foodie recommends sifting your pancake mix before introducing any wet elements to prevent any clumps from forming, making the pancakes fluffier. Overmixing can eliminate air bubbles, so it’s much better to sift early, instead of stirring when all the ingredients have been added.
For the wet ingredients, dairy products like milk, butter, yogurt, or even ricotta cheese instead of water will help pancakes become richer. Add toppings such as bananas, blueberries, and chocolate chips for a spectacular finish.
