Your Bacon Will Taste Better With This Sweet Addition
By KALEA MARTIN
The sheer sight or smell of bacon is enough to get most people's mouths to water. There aren't many ways to make the breakfast staple taste better than it already does, but if you're looking for a twist on your morning bacon, adding some sweetness is a great way to perk up your protein.
You'll often see maple bacon at the grocery store, but do-it-yourself candied bacon is a delicious preparation to try. If you like your bacon on the sweet side, try a slightly more unconventional preparation by adding balsamic vinegar and brown sugar.
To make this sweet and smoky dish, par-cook the bacon in the oven at 350F, combining the brown sugar and balsamic vinegar in the meantime. After the bacon cooks for about 20 minutes, coat it with the brown sugar and balsamic mixture, then return the bacon to the oven until it turns golden brown.
