You Can Make A Quick Cocktail Sauce With Only 3 Ingredients
BY JOHN TOLLEY
For classic cocktail sauce, all you need is a half or whole cup of ketchup, a tablespoon of grated horseradish, and a teaspoon or two of fresh squeezed lemon juice and lemon zest.
The amount of ketchup will depend on how much sauce you need. Stir thoroughly in a bowl, taste, and adjust as you see fit before refrigerating the sauce to meld the flavors.
For your ketchup, any commercial ketchup will work. Freshly grated root is ideal for the horseradish, but jarred grated horseradish with few additives is still good.
If you want to punch up the flavor even more, try stirring in a dash or two of your favorite hot sauce for added spice and a bit more of a vinegar kick.
