Why Your Espresso At Home Doesn't Taste The Same As A Coffee Shop
BY Zoë Lourey-Christianson
While you can make a good espresso at home, it never quite tastes the same as one from a coffee shop. There are many variables that get in the way of that perfect shot.
Coffee shops have the upper hand in espresso drinks thanks to commercial equipment and experienced baristas, which lead to crafting consistent, high-quality espresso drinks.
A perfect shot depends on bean quality, grind size, coffee mass, tamping, water temperature, and pressure. A good espresso machine allows more control of all these variables.
Even with a high-quality machine, you likely won't be making coffee like your local barista because, like any other skill, it takes practice and experience to be great at it.
