The best type of canned salmon is moist, delightfully flaky, and comes from a company with sustainable business practices, all of which Starkist's offerings tend to lack.
While it's great that the product is wild-caught from Alaskan waters, the company fails in sustainability, as its cans are sent to another country — Thailand — to be packaged.
The poor freshness is evident in the overly-salted, and at times metallic, taste of the fish. Some reviewers noted the product being unshredded, or containing many bones and skin.
