While berries in their natural state are packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber, the canning process can reduce these benefits and change their natural texture.
Most notably, the heat required to can berries significantly diminishes their vitamin C content. The berries also contain sugars and syrups, further diminishing their health benefits.
These sugars and syrups enhance taste and preservation, but regularly consuming them can lead to health issues like weight gain and an increased risk of diabetes.
The fresh flavor of berries is compromised, often overshadowed by the sweetness of the added syrups. The natural texture of the berries will become softer and less appealing.
