Why You Should Always Have Canned Chicken In Your Pantry
By KATHERINE BECK
Keeping the pantry full of canned, jarred, and boxed goods will help save tons of money on weekly groceries and make it easier to prepare last-minute meals and eat more healthfully. It turns out that one of the most important items stocked in the pantry is canned chicken.
Healthy and versatile, canned chicken can be eaten straight from the can or incorporated to a variety of salad and sandwich recipes. Moreover, the water inside has absorbed the flavor of the protein, making it similar to chicken broth.
Canned chicken has the same nutritional value as fresh cooked chicken, but it's still important to read the label for additions like high sodium levels. Use them in dishes like chicken tacos, chicken fried rice, and chicken pot pie, or serve them alongside whole grain pasta, brown rice, or canned vegetables.
