Why You Should Always Have Bananas Stored In Your Freezer
By STEPHANIE FRIEDMAN
If you’re not freezing bananas, you’re missing out on some DIY sweet treats that are great sources of fiber, potassium, vitamin C, and vitamin B6. Frozen banana desserts are just the tip of the iceberg of how you can eat this ice-cold treat, and there's a multitude of reasons why you'll want to always have frozen bananas around.
Frozen bananas are the perfect fruit for nice cream, which is frozen fruit pureed in a blender to form a more nutritious ice cream. Bananas are a prime candidate for nice cream because their mildly sweet flavor goes well with peanut butter, chocolate, and coconut, and they get a creamy consistency after a few minutes in the blender.
These fruits are also a great base for smoothies since they can overpower the taste of veggies like spinach or kale, or you can use frozen bananas for baked goods by thawing them, straining out the excess liquid, and pouring them right into your baking recipe. It seems that the possibilities with frozen bananas are endless!
