Why The Flat Whisk Will Be Your New Favorite Kitchen Tool
By HALDAN KIRSCH
Even though you probably have plenty of whisks in your kitchen drawer, you should add a flat whisk to it, too. A flat whisk is exactly what it sounds like — it’s a series of stainless-steel wires coming out of a handle to form a flat, rounded U-shape instead of the usual balloon shape.
An immediate advantage of the flat whisk is that its flattened shape makes it much easier to clean, as fewer overlapping wires means less room for batters and other foods to get stuck inside. This also means it won't get tangled up as easily with other kitchen tools in your drawers.
The flat whisk is perfect for sauces, as the flattened shape means other tines won’t get in the way when you’re deglazing the sides of your pots and pans, and you can easily scrape food stuck at the bottom. The flat shape also makes it great to use as a slotted spoon or a spatula.
