Although there are 11 different kinds of garlic, the methods for storing garlic are universal! Keeping garlic in colder temperatures will accelerate their sprouting, whereas storing garlic cloves at room temperature is the best way to prevent premature sprouting and optimize freshness.
There are two factors that are paramount to maintaining a garlic’s freshness which are temperature and ventilation. Keeping garlic at room temperature is the most important while keeping the clove whole or having proper ventilation is the second.
