Why It Pays To Cook Fried Rice In Butter Instead Of Oil
BY SEPTEMBER GRACE MAHINO
To make your own flavor-packed fried rice at home, fry the rice in butter instead of oil. This infuses a rich flavor and creates much creamier results.
Since butter has a low smoke point, you'll need to mix it with oil so you can cook the rice at a high temperature. Stir the butter constantly in the pan so it doesn't burn.
Be aware that using butter with the rice would give it a higher saturated fat content. This, in addition to soy and oyster sauce, considerably raises sodium levels.
After cooking the chopped vegetables, add the leftover rice and make space to melt butter in the pan. Throw in the grains and season everything with soy sauce.
