Why Is Traditional Cuban Coffee Served In Such Small Cups?
BY NIKITA EPHANOV
The iconic Café Cubano stands apart from other whipped coffees. It's consumed in a small espresso cup, the result of a shortage of coffee on the island.
Cuban coffee is crafted with a moka pot and brewed extra bold. The small cups help prolong the coffee-drinking experience by enabling the consumption of several rounds.
To deliver an intensely flavored hit, the coffee is crafted with
a bold palate in mind, sometimes even cut with chickpeas for added bitterness.
To smoothen the drinking experience, whipped sugar is dolloped on top. Such a small cup aids in drinking the boldly flavored beverage all in one go.
