Why Don't Cadbury Creme Eggs Taste Like They Used To?
By Karen Hart
Cadbury changed their creme egg recipe in 2015. While the treats’ filling used to be made of sweet fondant called "Dairy Milk," it is now made with standard milk chocolate.
Cadbury was once a British-owned company that gave an exclusive manufacturing and distributing license to U.S.-based Hershey, but it was bought by Kraft in 2010.
When the creme egg recipe was changed, a spokesman for Kraft told The Sun, "It's no longer Dairy Milk. It is similar, but not exactly Dairy Milk."
This is because chocolate must contain at least 25% cocoa solids in the U.K., while it only needs 10% in the U.S. The recipe changed once Cadbury was no longer a British company.
