Why Costco's Chicken Breasts Are Disappointing Customers
BY Eibhlis Gale-Coleman
Per shoppers, Costco's chicken breasts have become woody-tasting and crunchy over recent years. The inconsistency has built a bad reputation even amongst the most loyal customers.
One Redditor complained, "Costco's woody breasts have ruined chicken for me," while another noted, "It seemed like there was at least 1 woody breast in each package."
Many are blaming unnatural growth patterns for the meat's woodiness. When birds aren't raised right, the muscle bypasses adequate protein development, instead creating extra fat.
Costco's CEO is said to be investigating the issue. Note that your cooking style can cause woodiness as well, but reducing cooking time and adding moisture and seasoning can help.
