What’s The Difference Between Bourbon And Rye?
BY NIKITA EPHANOV
Rye and bourbon are two stand-out all-American whiskeys. Despite their similar production methods, they differ in their mash makeup, which uses different base ingredients.
Bourbon must follow specific rules and have a base that is at least 51% corn. Rye whiskey necessitates at least 51% rye but can go as high as 100% rye.
The corn and rye differences inspire deviation in flavors. Bourbon is known to be smoother since corn imparts more sweetness, while rye is malleable and can have stronger flavors.
