What Makes Whole Foods' Berry Chantilly Cake Distinctive?
BY WENDY MEAD
Whole Foods' Berry Chantilly cake has become a TikTok sensation, boasting delicious layers of vanilla cake, Chantilly whipped cream frosting, and fresh berries.
The cake's simple yet elegant design and perfectly balanced flavors make it a standout dessert for dinner parties, birthdays, and more. It also has a rather unique history.
The Berry Chantilly cake was born at a New Orleans Whole Foods location over a decade ago. A baker there created the dessert based on her own grandmother's recipe.
Today, the cake is popular all over the country, and it's also rather distinctive because it's sold in various forms, from cupcakes to individual slices to whole layer cakes.
Whole Foods even offers a spin-off, the Mango Yuzu Chantilly cake, featuring mango and yuzu curd. The simplicity of the classic berry cake still makes it a number one fan favorite.
The Chantilly is made of cream cheese, mascarpone, and almonds. Combined with raspberry jam and four kinds of berries, this treat is unmatched by most other supermarket offerings.
